I agree with the thrust of your sentiments. However, I differ in my interpretation. I read Burke's comments to RD as a rebuke for what appeared intolerance of Senator Fielding's views. Right at the start RD was attempting to paint Fielding as a fool - so you think the world is only 100,000 years old, do you? His opening gambit was very aggressive and designed to embarrass people, whose individual beliefs had not even been established.
As the programme continued the existence of prominent Christians who were not creationists but believers in evolution, was discussed. RD appeared to want to wrong-foot and embarrass both Fielding and Bishop right from the start. Socially inept, I thought. Maybe bible bashers are a pain but bashers of bible bashers are painful also.
Maybe being an atheist is itself a religion.
