What does cheap gas mean? It means that industries that need lots of power can do it cheaper. it means more jobs. It means people can afford to heat their homes on the cheap. The more competition in this area will mean better prices even for green power because they have to compete.

I can't see how they wouldn't want to know if that resource is there or not. It could literally change the trajectory of Australian industry. On top of the fact most of the greening is just green washing. From the inability to measure the greenhouse gases to the politicization of it. First we are told that solar /wind/ batteries are the way to go and then we notice that articles on the heavy metals and difficulty in recycling old solar panels and materials in the batteries and rare earths are poisonous etc.

We now have two motives behind Scott Morrison not wanting to approve PEP-11:
1) They may lose votes up and down the East Coast of Australia due to approving the permit and
2) They will upset their bigger oil and gas donors as it opens the door to another potential competitor.
