The large ice sheets may be far more sensitive to extreme weather events than previously thought, according to a new study according to DMI. This can also cause sea levels to rise faster.

If the entire ice sheet on Greenland and all the ice on Antarctica were to melt, the seas would rise by 65 metres. Until now, it has been believed that the melting of the large ice sheets takes place statically, but a new stage shakes that assumption.
