Politics across the western world is less and less driven by traditional common sense. If it provides an election win then it can be as stupid and contrarian as you possibly can draw it up.
There is a huge portion of the voters who truly believe in shutting oil and gas down. Not just new licenses but ongoing production as well. Someone probably did a calculation and said that supporting that would be a win for Labour. Then after the election we will see the real politics until next election campaign.
Plain stupidity and no-one can convince the paint and glue mob of anything different than their twisted worldview. A balanced transition has been the agreement so far, and it is disappointing to see this being converted into a trade for votes.
But as you all know I am not the slightest surprised. All we can do is hope for counter pressure against the masness.
