I've lived and worked in Beijing and seen many western wives want to pack it in...tough living up there. Typically, you ask a western bloke who has just packed up the family to move to Beijing for the 'chance of lifetime' on how the move is going...and the response will be through clenched teeth, "yeh we are getting there, certainly a big adjustment". However, behind the reply you know that his wife and kids just want to turn around and go home and they would be at home saying to dad that no amount of money is worth it...just saying.

I love the place but not for everyone.

Bearden's family certainly went through my head when read his resignation. But the guy should move family back to Aus and stay on a bit and finish/handover what he started. I'd be feeling a bit guilty about share price drop if I was him.
