Westpac update shows pristine credit qualityJames EyersSenior ReporterAug 15, 2022 – 9.03amWestpac said bad debts in its mortgage book fell over in the past quarter, highlighting strong foundations as the banking sector braces for a tougher year as interest rates rise and house prices fall.A limited quarterly update also showed capital levels drifted lower, as higher interest rates forced it to tweak risk settings. But the bank said recent asset sales would buttress the capital fall.
