S-B, why is Gaddafi the madman? He is the ruler of a sovereign state. Not a very nice one, perhaps, but still the ruler. There were protests against his rule. He has sought to quell them. Who are the UN to decide that his legitimacy has gone? Who are the Americans, British, French etc. to commit acts of war against another sovereign nation? Who can blame him if he fights back to his utmost ability?

Why do we not see similar tactics employed against Bahrain, and the Saudis who are supporting the Bahraini monarchy? Or Mugabe? Or Chavez and half a dozen other dictators who suppress any form of dissent?

The world is a more uncertain place when the UN can remove sovereign status at their whim. In 2003 Libya held the chair of the UN Human Rights commission. If you are looking for madmen, I suggest you start with the people who set up the process that allowed such a thing to happen.
