Nt 1973 For those of us who used to work at Qantas pre 1992, before it was taken over by Australian Airlines , the real Qantas is a mere skeleton of its once great former self. It took 75 years to build a once proud tradition with a safety record 2nd to none, and only ten years to dismantle it . I wouldnt believe too much of the creative accounting in the annual report. Why was the $200M cost of grounding the airline attributed to QF international ? Why was the airline grounded at all ? Did you read the article about Jetstar profit down 80% ? In the past ten years Jetstar has barely shown profit, whilst being supported by Qantas. I doubt if Jetstar would survive without being propped up by Qantas. Without its staff QF is nothing, you just keep wielding your axe and see what happens to your investment. One hull loss and Qantas is toast ! GLTA @ QF !
