Did you see my comment about hiding behind hindsight? I'm sure if you ask LA county if they wish they had extra ER capacity they'd sure as hell go back in time to prepare better. Thankfully Aus didn't need those beds but imagine if we did, and didn't have them!
I think if you look at the rest of the world in comparison, Australia is extremely lucky to have been largely unscathed (due in large part to its response).
So I happen to agree with you that now these continued border closings and political uncertainty is bad for everyone. The real issue lies with an inability to manage people returning to the country, and that lies with scomo.
I'd offer that QAN not allowing unvaccinated people is loosely akin to Twitter banning hate speech and misinformation on their platform. Businesses can and should make decisions based on how customers use their products. It's not a right to fly with QAN.
