Thalidomide was many years ago and approvals were probably different then, but was it also a rushed process?
The biggest worry must be whether side effects that are not immediately visible during speedy trials later emerge and are deleterious - in a worst case, very bad.
And with so much money to be made (after high introduction costs are recovered) how does the general populace in any nation know whether or not manufacturers, or organisations like the Therapeutic Goods Administration in Oz that find themselves under immense pressure from governments and businesses to 'achieve an efficacious vaccine' do not cut corners?
