    Fuel costs is QANTAS biggest expense. So lower fuel costs will improve the bottom line a lot

    Fuel costs are whatever they have hedged at. Qantas does not tell us*, although Air New Zealand gives the information in detail. If Qantas has no hedges, then the drop is a huge benefit. If they've hedged at $100, then that's what they are paying. The massive fuel surcharge on long flights is till on.


    *Qantas did make a book entry admitting to 'negative fuel hedge expense' a couple of years ago.

    Good luck to those who got on board early, its been a terrific ride. A gain is a gain, and rare enough in current market.
    A lot of leadership has come from booming airline stocks in the US.
