Hmmmm. Didnt the now legendary Solly attribute the smooth evacuation of passengers to the mature & experienced complement of cabin & aircrew after his splash into the Hudson? Any of you guys remember the Garuda crash in Japan years back? the DC10 or 727 that crashed on takeoff? The cameraman was panning the burning jet in the distance with survivors still crawling from the wreckage when the camera panned across someone in the forefront, immediately in front of the camera....the camera shook & then focussed on a young & pretty Indonesian stewardess right in front of him, a terrified look on her face, and hundreds of metres away from where she should have been.....helping survivors.. She was right out at the airport perimeter....while people were burning.
So if you have an emergency.....a child becomes critically ill, or the aircraft is about to come down hard, which do you think would be the most valuable? The seasoned stewardess with decades of experience, or the young pretty one intent on preserving her health & beauty? The choice should be obvious.... They are not meant to be Barbie-dolls....their duty is to the comfort and SAFETY of their passengers.....
