Within Australia unfortunately there is no better choice IMO, in fact these days and being in I don't even bother looking at other choices.
2-3 return flights a year and I have experienced few problems with flights. One occasion, some one mistook my suit case for theirs, Qantas tracked it down and delivered to where I was staying a few hours latter. Another occasion my suit case didn't get loaded on the plane, they called me on the PA as I arrived at luggage pick up and was told they would deliver the next day. Well that saved me waiting for luggage and wheeling it to long term car park.
