"In 1977 some 44 per cent of Australians flying out of their country did so on Qantas. Now it is more like 18 per cent. And a significant proportion of them do so on the Frequent Flier points they earn from domestic travel.
The rest go on the cheaper Mid-East and Asian airlines competing in the Australian market.
