Minstrels99, how does it work when we have the QAN CEO this morning stating that 'there's huge demand when borders reopen' yet when one looks at the SYD airport website today, QAN is only operating 19 flights from SYD to Melbourne (i.e.one way) using its 'red tail liveried' planes, while cancelling 24 others that were meant to operate?

Happy to be corrected but on a December Tuesday with some students having finished for the year, business travel continuing and others travelling to visit friends and relatives or for a holiday, QAN would have been operating 35 plus 'red tail' flights three or four years ago on what is normally a very busy air route.

Similarly, subsidiary, Jetstar has just six flights from SYD to Melbourne Airport at Tullamarine today, and two from SYD to Melbourne Avalon. Pre-COVID-19, from memory the figures would have respectively been 12-15 and five or six, so again, a huge drop in the number of available seats and by extension, bookings.

Mr Joyce's position demands that he appears as 'Mr Optimism' but he's been way out (re demand exaggerating) on multiple occasions during the past 21 months.

It isn't always his fault - he could not have predicted what lunatics all the State Premiers and tinpot Territory Ministers have been (exception: NSW) - but his exuberance tends not to reflect reality.
