This article reminds me of the HC battle between the QAN unionists (pretending to be customers) versus practically the rest of Australia during the QAN lockout. Unions brought down one industry after another in the UK and even today in Australia they are in internal dispute about the Craig Thomson affair, when practically the rest of Australia can see the massive damage being done to the union movement.
With Labor (Labour) it is usually money that brings them down and with the UK Tories it is usually sex scandals. Maybe the problem is as simple as suddenly obtaining access (through power) to what you never had before.
Unions should go back to doing what they are entrusted to do, namely collective bargaining, and keep their hands out of other people's tills and stay out of politics.
