Farmboy I agree with you on view on QAN management and will add the following.

Everyone is forgetting the core of Qantas business....."To offer a premium carrier service"

Qantas offer this but its so and the passenger market have had enough. I fly QAN very regularly, as well as other OneWorld members and I can tell you this. Qantas is best when it comes to getting it right, worst when it comes to consistency. You can have access to all the capital in the world, but if your core product is meant to be on the upper end of the market and you offer the "yeh sometimes" then you souldnt be in such a cut throat business such as airlines.

Virgin across the board offers value for money and more importantly consitency. It aint the best I will add but you know what you are getting for you dollar. Qantas need to look long and hard at themselves and figure out what kind of airline they want to be, low cost or high end, and not cruise through the centre.

So before the goverment gets invovled why dont Joyce and his team go back to the basics of what Qan is all about. Regardless of your view on him and his team they made some ball breaker decisions which may have save dthe company already. The quedtion is whether they still have the energy to keep fighting.

Should the goverment come to the rescue, answer is In the short term no. Sit back and watch, but a goverment intervention should also mean a management reshuffle, cause they all knew what the industry was all about.
