    The levy was to cover the Fed government loan for the standard 8 weeks salary. It was mostly repaid to the gov by the liquidators and the gov used the excess to invest in the aviation industry, as was always planned. The unions via Combet tried in vain to steal the excess.

    The Ansett workers got around 96% of their so-called entitlements - it was like they all won tattslotto. Vast majority had new jobs within months. Other unsecured creditors got zilch.

    Ansett workers via Combet redefined "redundancy" - it used to be when your particular job was found to be no longer needed, now it's payable when the company goes broke.
