Secondly, you might want to take a good look at the duration of the investment portfolio, it may take some time for higher rates to work through as losses on existing holdings are offset by re-investments at progressively higher yields, if higher yields happen, which depends on the currency of the portfolios which may not all have rising interest rate environments....in my option investors over simplify this equation too much and over estimate the impact of rising rates on QBE's portfolios...what drives this business is underwriting and costs, both of which remain poor and higher than peers respectively....
