Maybe heel is talking about Merrill Lynch reducing their profit forecast by 12% a few days ago. CSFB have too I think. Deutsche Bank say to get out, they prefer IAG because of "QBE risk profile, given reduced solvency, reduction in reinsurance cover, potential dilution from recent hybrid equity issue".
Merrill are the house broker so their downgrade hurt. They say it is worth $8; "although it's cheap, QBE has to achieve targets to convince of investment merit ... Meanwhile it could be volatile (ie go down) ... second half of the year is when catastrophe risk is more prevalent ... take comfort in likely performance through June 30 2002" (not long to go eh?, should e comfie again in 12 days. Or do they just mean sometime in the never-never after June 30? There oughta be a TAFE course in broker-speak.).
alpha, even if I have to move down market again things could be worse - heelraiser could be on my case instead of ocker's on this quality stock.
cheers
