It is ludicrous that the government can sell the rights to a mining company, especially an overseas company to take, steal the land that a farmer owns and in many cases has occupied for maybe a hundred years.

It may have been different 100 years ago when a mine meant a small hole in the ground and an access road and the farmer was paid for the inconvenience but now mining companies take the lot and in many cases the water as well and it is rare when the land is returned to it's former state

Don't be surprised if the local authority worker shot by a farmer north of Moree was the last. It's this sort of arrogance that can be the last straw. What's a farmer to lose?
