    Dex,

There's also the fact that CSG requires very specific coal properties and the majority of Queensland coal deposits do not meet them.

CSG could take every permit they have a chance of squeezing gas out of and there would still be vast coalfields left for UCG.

The problem though is of course that CSG uses petroleum act leases and UCG uses mining act leases, which are not mutually exlusive, so we have the overlapping tenement issue. And CSG and UCG probably can't both be produced on the same tenement because CSG requires de-watering the seam while UCG requires groundwater.

So at the end of the day the CSG producers don't want UCG on their turf, and since CSG is a multibillion dollar industry about to get even bigger with the LNG developments, while UCG is basically three companies barely even at the pilot stage of development, the politicians are going to favour CSG and it will be an uphill battle to sell them UCG.

At least until we have some better UCG data to give them. Linc has been notably silent on the issue, so we may need Cougar to pick up the baton from Linc's flailing hands.
