Not quite correct in fact there were about 20 other nations bidding for 2032. The difference is that the IOC changed their selection processes. They whittle the bids down to what they perceive to be the best bid and then have a refendum vote for final approval. Brisbane got 72 votes from a possible 80? Hence the new process may appear to be 1 bidder but it is not.
