Regarding the lack of transport and road infrastructure, Peter Beattie had a solution for the Com Games on the Gold Coast. He made trucks use the left 2 lanes of the M1 only. He told the local people to have a holiday when the games are on. The only problem with that was the Gold Coast became a ghost town. Restaurants put on staff and stocked up with supplies on anticipating the boom time that didn't happen. It was a flop.
He didn't understand that it is the people that make the vibrant atmosphere of the GC.
The Com Games was an embarrassment for the nation and the world. I hate to say it but Labor is doing the same with the Olympics. It must be something in their DNA that Labor cannot do big infrastructure, big projects. Look at the Melbourne Com Games debacle, the GC Com Games and now The Olympics.
BTW, it was the LNP who won the Sydney Olympics and had all the planning, infrastructure and systems in place before NSW Labor won an election and claimed credit for the lot.
