Productivity is the word buzzing in every corner of the country.
with all the complaints about the Qld Lab govt and the strong win by the Libs we could have rightfully expected a big improvement in how govt produces various important govt projects. Key among such is housing construction, particularly after all the heavy weather events leaving people homeless.
But: -Falling productivity on building sites could have cost Queensland more than 70,000 extra homes, according to a new report from the state's productivity commission.
The Queensland government has tasked the agency with probing the construction industry and finding ways to improve it.
In an interim report released today, the commission has estimated productivity in the industry has fallen by about 9 per cent since 2018.
It says if that 2018 level had been maintained and put towards housing construction, an extra 77,000 dwellings could have been built — enough to meet supply shortfalls.
ABC LINK.
now I thought Crisafulli looked/sounded like one who might make significant improvements, and yes, they haven't been in govt for long so much of this report probably belongs to the former govt. points taken on board. but has Crisafulli failed in his promise?
Qlders will know better I'm sure.
