Health Minister misleads Parliament by coveringup blowout.
The Queensland Health Minister Yvette D’Ath misledParliament in Question Time on Tuesday [10/3] by claiming that thenumber of abortions had not risen since the passing of the Terminationof Pregnancy Act in 2018.
Using just figures for surgical abortions, Ms D’Ath toldParliament: “That shows that the passing of this legislation has notled to an increase in the number of terminations.” (page420 of Hansard on 10 March)
But the fact isthe total number of abortions in Queensland including “medical”abortions caused by prescribed drugs has increased by 58% between 2018and 2019.(see proof below)
In addition, almost 60% of all medical abortionsin Australia in 2019 (the first year after the law change) wereperformed in Queensland, which has only 20% of Australia’spopulation.
The passing of Labor's extreme abortion-to-birth laws in facthas led to an abortion blow-out. This is deeply distressing and needsurgent attention.
