The Islamic screwed up beliefs and mess we witness today stem from Arabian Islam. Yes, the Ottomans made up many, but so too the Persian (Shia) blend.
Yes also, the Ottoman Dynasty were responsible for carrying the Mohammedan torch of violence and repression while the post-Mohammedan Persian story was also one of conquests and repression (just look at the history of the Zoroastrian persecution).
Whether it is Erdogan (and the Saudis), or the Ayatollahs, different brands of Islam, but same mayhem and same spread of hate.
