even though I think Carroll was useless, the issue here is Qld government. The police effectively operated as catch and release as the judiciary just let them out. There are no consequences for crime. I believe there needs to be mandatory detention for serious crimes instead of the current rule of detention as a last resort. This is a hot topic in Qld right now, the community are angry as insurance premiums rise, businesses are putting on security, and people are scared. These are violent thugs who know there are no consequences.
