    Federal Opposition Leader Bill Shorten met with unions and Townsville city leaders on Friday morning.
    He had also spoken to Mr Palmer, who he said was evasive.
    "There's an alarming lack of detail about the future," he said.
    "He's been quite slippery today.
    "I couldn't pin him down on what his plans were.
    "I think Australians, in particular in Townsville, are getting very impatient with being kept in the dark and treated like mushrooms."
    Administrators of the refinery's previous owner, Queensland Nickel, said it owed more than 1,500 creditors a total of $100 million.
    Some 300 businesses are owned money, and 237 workers sacked in January are also owed more than $30 million in entitlements.
