Mate it's peak summer, this is one of the few times all year that they can run outside of the peak windows for pricing and return positively. They will not be able to get the returns outside peaking generation in 90% of the days in the year without running into negative pricing. It will ONLY get worse as more solar is installed. More gas is beneficial if they get an additional peaking generation facility, this is where the returns are favourable. It is concerning you are getting upvotes - if you can read what management also are saying, they want to develop a portfolio of PEAKING generation assets, not assets that run outside the main windows. This is why the steam turbine was mothballed.
