    Technically speaking QPM can use a patented process without directly referencing the patent holder if they have obtained a license to use the process, if the patent has expired, or if they have independently developed a similar process without infringing the patent claims. The company has historically repeatedly stated it had obtained the rights to use the DNi Process™ from Altilium Group. GM's news release from 2022 also specifically referred to this. According to Google, Altilium's patent is not close to expiring yet. And as to QPM having independently developed a similar process... if so, one would have thought QPM would have patented such a process and announced it to the public quite some time ago. Based on that, if you did come across a QPM flowsheet that depicts a patented nitric acid extraction process that does not reference Altilium, it could be construed as copyright infringement.
