It’s frustrating knowing you could have bought more shares at far lower prices and equally frustrating for some knowing they could have sold at the peak and taken profits and bought those shares back already, but that’s simply the benefit of hindsight. The chart predictions here look fantastic in hindsight and you could find many cases where the same posters chart predictions look ordinary in hindsight.
Many are happy to hold (or even add more) through the volatility because when they bought their shares it was with a multi year holding timeframe in mind.
For traders it’s a different story and good on them if they can turn profits on their short term trades.
Plenty of discussion and analysis here shows that a fairly conservative valuation could place the NPV of this project somewhere in the $2 billion plus territory, a more bullish valuation could put it in the $3-4 billion plus territory. All the recent news from the company has been positive in regards to securing financing and getting to the construction stage, if/when they do, the share price would be several multiples of where it is now and your entry looks very cheap.
I’d only be concerned about the fate of the company if they were to announce things that cast any kind of doubt on the project proceeding; we haven’t seen any of this so far, just the market reacting to a concerning geopolitical situation and underlying inflation/interest rate concerns. Perhaps some think these issues will cast doubt on the project and they are selling to protect capital or profits, plenty would sell simply because they know others will sell and then they buy back in at a cheaper price and get more shares.
Main point is, a project and company that has been years in the making doesn’t suddenly become a failure because of a weakened share price caused by factors totally out of their control. This period of volatility will pass and the company and project will still be there, somewhat more advanced than before too.
