The statement also included; “In addition, $134 millionin funding has been approved for CS Energy to develop the 400-megawatt BrigalowGas Peaker Project at Kogan Creek, and CleanCo and Stanwell will progress twonew gas-fired generation projects at Swanbank and Gatton”.
After reading the article above I feel optimistic about QPM's proposed gas peaking plant project; especially with the FEED expected to be released in June. It seems likely that QPM is positioning itself to tap into potential government funding opportunities. When you consider the recent substantial upgrades to its gas reserves, the possibility of government support to help launch the project and a (likely) application to NEMO for reserve pricing in the early years, the project appears to have strong prospects for success.
It's a strategy somewhat similar to what Strike Energy has done with South Erregulla although QPM benefits from having a significantly larger proven gas reserve (than SE) to hopefully help funding get off the ground.
