Why is everyone focussing on Ukraine and the war with Russia? This happens daily all over the world in many countries. Its because of location, resources and energy.

Germany made mistakes and poor choices and its on them but anyone who thinks moving to battery electric, solar and wind or hydrogen is going to be a clean move is absolutely kidding themselves.

Market demand for these materials to make EV's and new forms of energy and storage far and away outstrips ESG compliant or environmentally friendly supply by such a huge margin that there isnt a seriously conceivable way to match it for a long time. Therefore yes, people will suck up things like child labour produced Cobalt, Goro's polluting Nickel, poorly produced Lithium....and there will potentially be markets for Russian gas in all sorts of areas...
