Schoolchildren being taught to think critically and to become actively engaged in issues that face society today, and will do in the future, is a commendable pursuit.

But what I find quite discordant is how a number of ostensibly smart people appear to be supportive of school kids "marching" - under the endorsement of their schools - in a support of a certain cause; and yet those ostensibly smart people are unable to reference any basis on which school(s) endorse one particular cause for marching over another.

Some say the kids get to decide, some say its the remit of the teacher, and some say it is the role of the parents.

It should be evident that none of those are adequate answers, for their own respective reasons.
