Hello all,
Well yesterday was the very first time I've managed to travel through Flinders St Station to check out the wifi. I have to admit I was absolutely shocked at how fast it actually was. I had time on my short stop there to download an app using it's wifi and check it's speed on my phone. I took a screenshot but have no idea how to post it, so here is the info:
Ping: 14 ms
Download: 16.71 Mbps
Upload: 3.93 Mbps
I'm not sure how good people think the above speeds are and I don't really know what they mean, however I can tell you the wifi seemed lightning quick loading pages etc on my phone. The ads came up as expected too before I started using it but were easily cleared.
So positives from a user perspective:
- speed is ridiculous
- very easy to skip past ads to start using the thing
Negatives from a user perspective:
- Didn't seem to work too far away from the platform although i never got off the train so hard to judge this one.
Positives from a GCN perspective:
- the wifi is working as I assume it must have been planned as it is reliable, fast, asks for email/gender/DOB on sign-up and displays ads.
Negatives from a GCN perspective:
- very easy to skip past ads to start using the thing
- can't see anyone at Fed Square being close enough to use it, but I will have to trial this at some stage in the next few weeks.
Cheers,
Lok
