the uk has now confirmed it will be printing money to fight deflation, lack of bank lending and collapse in corporate and gilt bonds. the usa is into the same. its called quantitative easing. as it happens, inflation will begin to pick up and one of the reasons i have bought into platinum is as an inflation hedge (where scarcity is the crucial property that is required) - of course platinum prices themselves may vary, but there will be a demand for industrial purposes (regardless of fewer cars emerging)and there is a demand for jewellery at these prices and most importantly, imo, there will be a growing demand as an inflation hedge - whatever the platinum price the greatest security is with the lowest cost producers - this is why PLA is in my portfolio
