However I think a number of Xstrata strategies are now being reviewed due to takeover potential suitor. we on this forum have often wondered about the feasibility of their remaining reserves at such low grades and then to go underground at Ernest Henry just adds additional cost. Now take out the local smelter and depressed copper price and one has to wonder even more if this is feasible. The volume of raw material that now has to be railed is very large to extract the 1 % or so.

I do understand that up at Mt Isa the lead and Nickle is still worth while though.
