The timing (coinciding with this morning's huge takedown on TOCOM - down $5.50 in two, big trades) also didn't help.
Nevertheless, if they can do their estimated 220k oz production in the fourth quarter, all will be forgiven.
Another point: third quarter average received gold price was $US677/oz. So far, the lowest it's been this quarter is $US721/oz.
Give it until the end of this week - people will have put the 3rd quarter behind them and will be focussed on 4th and future quarters.
I'll also be very interested to see whether or not the big falls today follow through to Toronto tonight. If the fall is smaller there, no doubt it will bounce in Oz tomorrow.
