Your very cheapest option would be to survey 1 square km that would cost around $3500 plus 2k for interpetation.
I would use a gold detector and map finds using gps, plot them on a graph then do a ground survey on the area I had the largest amount of finds. This would allow you to target open pit. It would be the best $6k you spent.
