The problem with the gold producers is that despite "good" results they are showing (in many cases) increasing costs and no increase in cash position. Increasing costs maybe not a concern for MML but free cash flow sufficient to fund the plant expansion is.
I don't buy the "exiting Aussie stocks" theory though. Higher dollar is actually a reason for foreigners to buy Aussie stocks, not to sell them. Aside from that gold producers in particular are linked to the POG and as a result are more insulated from currency fluctuations than other companies..
