bhbhbh, hi. Many thanks for that. Can't tell you how satisfying it is to read a decent translation of it after slaving over it for so many hours. I also like the translator's strict adherence to a word for word translation of IMIDRO: "rebuild and development of mines and industrialization of Iran". The translator perhaps hasn't heard of IMIDRO? It bodes well that the rest of the translation is accurate (I'm only a beginner so can't verify that). Many, many thanks. PS As it is a million times better than anything I could ever do, I hope you don't mind if I take "row" to mean "ore", only because that makes more sense?
The interesting thing about the article for me is that the Iranian Authorities seem to recognise we have been promised in the agreements the right to mine Mehdiabad and that the Ministry is refusing us that right under (newer?) regulations. The fact we had this right seems to be confirmed by what Iran Daily had to say on 13/5/06
http://iran-daily.com/1385/2560/pdf/i6.pdf
and again in Iran Daily on 4/12/05
http://iran-daily.com/1384/2441/pdf/i3.pdf
So of course if the Ministry won't stand by past agreements I'm in favour of going to arbitration (under UNCITRAL rules?) unless there is a very quick acceptable compromise (they've had since 5/12/06 to sort this mess out - that's 18 months, which shows we have been patient?).
