It is understood investment bank UBS is running a two-stage auction, designed to assess the intermodal unit's value and give new Aurizon chief executive Andrew Harding the chance to cut it free after years of underperformance.
Source said the now privately-owned Pacific National, Qube Holdings and Victoria's SCT Logistics were among the parties likely to lob first round bids, seeking to bolt-on the Aurizon rail-based network to their existing intermodal businesses.
