Its all good. I just do not like it when the so-called "experts" write articles that mislead people. QER and those companies like them target shale that is very close to the surface (in gladstone it is actually on the surface to about 10m down) around proserpine i believe it is around 45m underground and it is open cut mined, the shale is a white chalky rock that when cooked releases hydrocarbons which can be turned into fuels. Unlike the shale we are chasing which is very deep and utilises the natural ground pressure to force natural oil caught in the shale to the surface.

The statement by the QLD government relates purely to the shallow shale plays.
