"So why isn't there a stronger push especially in Australia for Hydrogen powered cars?" Simply because of the awful RTE of hydrogen, if you have electricity and use it to make hydrogen then convert it back to electricity you will only have about 35% of what you started with. Compare that with a lithium battery where the RTE is over 90% or pumped hydro at around 70% and it is easy to understand that using hydrogen for power storage is the option of last resort.
