From a roll out perspective hydrogen is a far more practical solution than EVs in remote & regional locations with the current battery technology.
For a start the existing infrastructure at service stations could easily be retrofitted to store & dispense hydrogen especially if LPG pumps already exist.
Secondly nowhere on the remote areas of Australia hughway network, such on the Nullarbor or Stuart Highway would ever be able to viably charge EVs from standalone solar systems commercially.
Lastly you wouldn't need to install expensive electricity grids in order to connect such remote locations in order to charge EVs but transport hydrogen by vehicle.
