    Well he started out in the right faction of the ALP but failed to get pre selection so he switch to the left faction.

    Seems at his early stages he couldn't work out which way he was going and still can't.

    He has a PhD "Trade Union Renewal in Australia: rebuilding worker involvement" and by it looks as to why he is still there he has some strong backers.

    A lot of government projects have all blown out in recent times, Cross river Rail $960 million over, $2.4 billion cost blowout of Queensland’s train building program and now cost of upgrades to the M1 motorway on the Gold Coast has blown out by 50 per cent and will now cost $1.5 billion.

    Seems his PhD is working well in subscription fees on these projects.
