there was no ban on uranium just a gentleman agreement that you would not apply for uranium and upset the applecart .there however was a ban in denmark and as the mining committee was half danish pollies and half greenlandic that was not going to change until the mid 2000's when the danes sleft the committee. But even then uranium was a no go area. This was cleared up in the first IA government when permission to explore for uranium was granted but this was more allowing people to assay for it as a pollution thing. It made it clear like subsequent changes you were allowed to explore but that did not give you the right to mine.
One party has been against it while the other party seimut initially was against changed their mind for some years but now after the last election very much against it. but its politics things can always change with a new leader
