The answer is in all probability "no". We are not alone in this, and that of course has been the mantra of Howard and Morrison. It's a global thing.

The big issue though with that opinion is that it is accompanied by a strong implication that as Australia is just a small part of the emissions release, then what we do here won't make any difference. Whilst there is some merit in that view, it still wreaks of a weak laissez faire attitude.

People from other countries are seeing these awful bush fires as another manifestation of a changing warmer climate. Reasonable people in Australia see it that way too.

The critical pivotal point with whether or not the warming climate is caused by mankind (and therefore major attempts should be made to fix it) or is cyclical (therefore do nothing as its nature doing all of this) is that if the latter opinion prevails and nothing serious is done and then it turns out that it is not cyclical at all but man-made, then it will be far too late to fix it. How catastrophic! How utterly stupid of those in charge.

The safe way to go obviously is to treat it as being created by humans, even if a climate change denier. There is nothing to lose by taking that approach. However, to not do anything could see the earth as we know and love it as an unbearable place to live.
