    g'day Madamswer

You're quite right to point out who is contributing most to global emissions of GHGs. This is why our GHG emissions continue to rise and why people are becoming more agitated as temperature and other climatic phenomena become increasingly concerning. Too little is being done to address the causes of global warming. Hence the journey and speeches of Greta Thunberg - so many others have preceded her and not received the response required so many are seeing the damage and the further probability of greater damage to come.

This however does not mean that we Australians should not take actions to address our emissions. Europe and UK have taken excellent actions and made good results without harming their economics. If you read Prof Ross Garnaut's book or commentary, see what he has been doing with his business interests, along with Sanjeev Gupta, Mike Cannon-Brooks and many others you can see the advantages of transitioning to renewable energy and limiting emissions.

It is not alarmism to accept there is a problem. The alarm is caused by the refusal to acknowledge the reality that global warming has caused current problems and will continue to worsen for decades to come threatening the viability of many species and making life for humans much more difficult.

"Alarmist" is now being used as a pejorative. Yet if the fireys didn't ring the alarm about a bushfire threatening a town they would be negligent.

The data you present is indeed cause for alarm Madamswer... it doesn't mean that we should do nothing for if everyone believes we should do nothing, nothing would be done. The NSW and federal Govts believe we should do nothing and this too is alarming. They will be remembered in future years as negligent. Meanwhile our businesses and some states are taking the issue seriously and are building economics of scale and benefiting from the lower costs associated with the transition.

    Cheers, Scott
